MODON

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON) is responsible for the development of industrial cities with integrated infrastructure and services including complete gated communities built for the city workers and their families. This project is a mixed use development for Jeddah 3 and 4 industrial city residents of approximately 50,000 inhabitants. It offers a variety of housing options, from apartments to villas, and all the amenities including schools, retail pavilions, amphitheaters and mosques.

Sites International was tagged to revise and develop the concept landscape master plan for the two cities. The design aims to preserve residential privacy, distinguish major site features, provide ample and effective shading options, guarantee pedestrian, cycle and golf cart accessibility, and provide opportunities for social interaction throughout the open spaces. Water features are introduced to cool and refresh the area, roadscape and hardscape to create a distinctive orientation for each zone, and lighting fixtures to accentuate visual features of the development. Water conservation determined plant selection and supported biodiversity as residential usage and landscape visibility established the application and degree of lush greenery. The open space networks surface runoff areas created occasional bursts of greenery and vivid colors to the  unexpected delight of residents. The site successfully created a charming modern and warm living atmosphere while honoring the arid environment of the region.
