Hassan Fathy Award for Architecture - Gold Prize
Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Library of Alexandria, in collaboration with the Architecture Committee of the Supreme Council for Culture, announced the results of the Hassan Fathy Architectural Competition naming Sites International as the Gold Prize winner. The competition aims to promote contemporary Egyptian architecture, spread cultural awareness of architecture and its importance in society and encourage and commemorate Egyptian architects.

Urban Land Institute’s Award for Excellence
Sites International’s Project "The American University in Cairo" received a Special Award from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) for the construction and design of the new campus. The Institute noted that the new campus is “designed to be a tool and stimulus in itself for learning and to anchor community development around the university.”

In the 1999 - 2001 cycle, Sites International's Project "The Nubian Museum, Aswan, Egypt" received the prestigious International Aga Khan Award for Architecture. One of the purposes of the Nubian Museum was to record Nubian heritage and stress Nubian identity and pride. In this it has been a resounding success.
