Mivida Boxpark Mall (Mivida Lake Food and Beverage)

MIVIDA is a mixed-use urban district located in New Cairo at the eastern edge of the capital Cairo. Mivida Boxpark mall is the first in Egypt and a novel concept to the Middle East region. It offers a mix of boutique stores and food outlets out of shipping containers.

Sites International’s scope includes master planning, architecture, landscape architecture, and engineering. The mall is made out of retrofitted shipping containers and built around a central lake. The use of containers in architecture creates a real challenge in design, structure detailing, and MEP requirements.  Sites International’s dynamic design, extracting its inspiration from the containers aesthetics and industrial feel, imagined colorful containers jutting out of roofs, while others are stacked or barely showing skeletal form. Mivida Boxpark design developed an architectural language that pays careful attention to scale, lighting and tenants’ preferences.
