Al-Seka Al-Beda Park

Cairo, Egypt

When the Governorate of Cairo embarked on a major greening effort for the capital, Sites International was asked to lead several of their projects.

Al Seka al-Beda Park is one of the endeavors located in a heavily congested urban community. The 10-acre park features a children’s playground, service areas, strategically-located pergolas surrounded by colorful groundcovers, major promenades and water features connecting various areas of the park. The centrally  located sun dial is the focal point for the park. All walkways radiate from it and all plazas and common spaces revolve around it. Selected for its aesthetic, historical, and educational value, the sun dial also acts as a major water feature attraction. Other highlights include a historical brick smoke stack, which was integrated into the park design, and custom-designed carved stone furniture that serve as art displays where visitors can enjoy a quiet meal or a moment of relaxation.
