The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)
Giza, Egypt
The Grand Egyptian Museum Project, supported by UNESCO, fittingly neighbors the timeless wonder of the Giza Pyramids.
The museum pays homage to Ancient Egyptian monuments, treasures and historic contributions to civilization in a 480,000 m2 state-of-the-art complex that serves as a scientific, educational and cultural resource. Sites International partnered with the winning international teams in developing the landscape architecture for the parks, piazzas, colonnades and retail space. The parks provide an outdoor complement to the indoor museum, re-telling the story of Egypt through the land. One of the many outdoor parks depicts Egypt’s agriculture from ancient times to present. True to the museum’s enchanting location, the landscape design intent complements, advances, and reflects Egypt’s rich historical heritage.
