New Book Release,”Landscape Architecture in Egypt” by Dr. Laila ElMasry
Dr. Laila ElMasry Stino, Partner and co-founder of Sites International, published a two volume book, Landscape Architecture in Egypt – “Landscape Architecture and the Planting Design of Al-Azhar Park, Volume I” and “A Plant Guidebook for Al-Azhar Park and the City of Cairo, Volume II”.
The book is a pioneering work in landscape architecture design in the Middle East and Egypt and the result of long years of study, academic experience and professional practice including the design, planning and construction of multitude of projects, one of which is Al-Azhar Park, a well renowned ecological park, where planting design is a key element of the landscape.
The book’s key contribution is the pivotalrole it plays in the revival of environmental awareness and the culture of environmental, ecological, and open space conservation that is totally lacking for decades in Egypt. Another unique feature is that Dr. Laila ElMasry Stino wrote her book in Arabic, with English sections, to guarantee its availability as a reference to academicians, professionals and consultants in the area of urban planning, architecture and landscape architecture in the Middle East.
The first volume addresses the principles and stages of landscape architecture with emphasis on design with plants. The second volume is a manual of close to 400 plants with detailed explanation of plant characteristics and suitability of use based on its spatial form, visual and ecological characteristics, a first for Egypt and the Middle East.
نشرت الدكتورة ليلى المصري، مؤسس وشريك بشركة سايتس إنترناشيونال، كتابًا من مجلدين عن عمارة اللاندسكيب بعنوان عمارة اللاندسكيب في مصر، المجلد الأول بعنوان “عمارة اللاندسكيب ودور النباتات في تصميم حديقة الأزهر” والمجلد الثاني بعنوان “مرجع نباتات حديقة الأزهر ومدينة القاهرة” .
ويعتبر هذا الكتاب عملًا رائدًا في مجال التصميم المعماري واللاندسكيب في مصر والشرق الأوسط ونتاجًا لسنوات طويلة من الدراسة والخبرة الأكاديمية والممارسة المهنية شاملة التصميم والتخطيط والتنفيذ للعديد من المشروعات وأحد هذه المشروعات مشروع حديقة الأزهر وهي حديقة بيئية ويعد التصميم بالنباتات هو العنصر الرئيس في تنسيق الموقع .
